_uuuu_nnnn_iiii_qqqq - report repeated lines in a file
SSSSYYYYNNNNOOOOPPPPSSSSIIIISSSS
_uuuu_nnnn_iiii_qqqq [ _----_uuuu|_----_dddd|_----_cccc ] [ _----_ffff _f_i_e_l_d_s ] [ _----_ssss _c_h_a_r_s ] [ _i_n_p_u_t [ _o_u_t_p_u_t ] ]
DDDDEEEESSSSCCCCRRRRIIIIPPPPTTTTIIIIOOOONNNN
_uuuu_nnnn_iiii_qqqq reads the input file comparing adjacent lines. In the normal case,
the second and succeeding copies of repeated lines are removed; the
remainder is written on the output file. _I_n_p_u_t and _o_u_t_p_u_t should always
be different. Note that repeated lines must be adjacent in order to be
found; see _ssss_oooo_rrrr_tttt(1). If the _----_uuuu flag is used, just the lines that are not
repeated in the original file are output. The _----_dddd option specifies that
one copy of just the repeated lines is to be written. The normal mode
output is the union of the _----_uuuu and _----_dddd mode outputs. The _----_cccc option
supersedes _----_uuuu and _----_dddd and generates an output report in default style but
with each line preceded by a count of the number of times it occurred.
_uuuu_nnnn_iiii_qqqq processes supplementary code set characters according to the locale
specified in the _LLLL_CCCC______CCCC_TTTT_YYYY_PPPP_EEEE environment variable [see _LLLL_AAAA_NNNN_GGGG on _eeee_nnnn_vvvv_iiii_rrrr_oooo_nnnn(5)].
The _----_ffff and _----_ssss options specify skipping an initial portion of each line in
the comparison:
_----_ffff _f_i_e_l_d_s
The first _f_i_e_l_d_s fields together with any blanks preceding them
are ignored for each input line. A field is defined as a string
of non-space, non-tab characters separated by tabs and spaces
from its neighbors.
_----_ssss _c_h_a_r_s
The first _c_h_a_r_s characters (columns, in multibyte environments)
are ignored. Fields are skipped before characters.
NNNNOOOOTTTTEEEESSSS
The _----_n and _++++_m options, although still recognized, are now obsolete and
may not be supported in future releases. The _----_n option is equivalent to
_----_ffff _f_i_e_l_d_s with _f_i_e_l_d_s set to _n. The _++++_m option is equivalent to _----_ssss _c_h_a_r_s
with _c_h_a_r_s set to _m.
